We have been busy making arrangements for the spring series of Grassroots Heritage in Scotland Roadshows. We will be continuing our tour of the nation, with roadshows taking place in Glasgow to North Ayrshire, Central Scotland, Dundee & Fife, Highland, and Aberdeenshire & Moray.
Glasgow to North Ayrshire Roadshow, 1st February, Johnstone Town Hall
Central Region Roadshow, 15th February, Cochrane Hall, Alva
Dundee & Fife Roadshow, 8th March, venue TBC
Highland Roadshow, 15th March, Dingwall Academy
Aberdeenshire & Moray Roadshow, 22nd March, The Barn Arts, Banchory
The island roadshows, to be held in the Western Isles and Orkney & Shetland, will follow in the summer, when we hope for the weather to be kind to us for the ferries. Both of these will be hybrid events to allow everyone from the far reaches of the regions to attend, even if they are not able to physically get there. We also plan to hold a special online workshop on Heritage in Placemaking in the summer, open to all, as well as the Grassroots Heritage in Scotland Training Sessions.
We have a number of speakers confirmed for our spring roadshows:
Glasgow to North Ayrshire
Iain Ross Wallace, Scottish Stonemasons' Marks
A talk about the Scottish Stonemasons' Marks project with a particular local focus on Paisley Abbey.
Marjorie Perotto, Historic Environment Scotland
A talk on the Our Past, Our Future strategy. Marjorie's presentation will be immediately followed by a special discussion session to gather your views on the strategy.
Central Region

An introduction to the LMA's new Resourcing Reminiscence project, which offers advice, support and training to groups in reminiscence and oral history capture.

Anyone who works in or has an interest in heritage is most welcome to attend our roadshows. They are free to attend and we even have some travel bursaries available to assist you in getting there. We are also looking for enthusiastic Steering Committee members to decide the discussion topics each of for our roadshows. We typically hold two online meetings in the run up to the roadshow. All are welcome. Please come with lots of ideas!
